Nitrogen and air generators

F-DGSi nitrogen and zero air generators produce gas from compressed air by PSA — nitrogen for LC-MS and evaporation (up to 70 l/min, purity up to 99.99%) and clean air for FID detectors. Combined nitrogen-plus-air units are also available.

Nitrogen and air generators make gas from compressed air by pressure swing adsorption (PSA) — a sieve bed separates the stream into nitrogen and oxygen while a drying stage removes water vapour. Instead of cylinders and dewars, the lab has a steady source of gas at a repeatable purity, matched to the instruments it supplies.
Nitrogen generators (PSA)
Nitrogen serves as the gas for LC-MS, for sample evaporation and as a blanket gas. Purity is traded off against flow — the lower the flow, the higher the purity reached.

Air generators (zero air)
Clean air fuels flame detectors (FID, FPD) and other applications where the hydrocarbon background must be negligible. The models differ by purity class.

Combined nitrogen and air units
When one workstation needs both gases, we turn to the combined CALYPSO 2G and 3G models. For example, the CALYPSO 3G.SC delivers 12–18 l/min of nitrogen (purity > 99%) plus clean, dried air at a −55°C dew point and under 0.1 ppm hydrocarbons in a single enclosure (PSA with a membrane dryer).
