Hydrogen generators

F-DGSi COSMOS hydrogen generator — benchtop and rack versions

F-DGSi COSMOS hydrogen generators produce clean hydrogen from deionised water in a PEM cell — as carrier gas or FID fuel, with no cylinders to store. Flow from 110 to 1500 ml/min and purity up to 99.99999%.

A hydrogen generator makes gas on demand from deionised water, splitting it electrolytically in a PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) cell with a titanium membrane. In a chromatography lab it replaces the hydrogen cylinder — as carrier gas in GC or as fuel for FID and FPD detectors. Only a small amount of gas is ever under pressure inside the unit, which markedly improves safety.

COSMOS series models

The models differ mainly in flow rate and in how the gas is dried, which sets the final hydrogen purity.

Model H₂ flow Purity Drying
COSMOS MF.H2 110–1500 ml/min > 99.99999% (O₂ < 0.1 ppm) dynamic regenerative dryer — highest purity
COSMOS MB.H2 110–600 ml/min > 99.9996% (O₂ < 1 ppm) static membrane dryer, maintenance-free
COSMOS MD.H2 110–600 ml/min > 99.9996% (O₂ < 1 ppm) replaceable desiccant cartridge

MF.H2 models deliver gas at up to 11 bar, MB.H2 and MD.H2 up to 7 bar. All run on ASTM II grade water. A 19" rack form factor is also available (COSMOS RACK MF.H2 and RACK MB.H2) for cabinet mounting.

How to choose

The choice comes down to the number and type of instruments supplied and the purity required — a FID runs on standard purity, while applications sensitive to oxygen and moisture call for the regenerative MF.H2. Send us your instrument list and we will match the model, flow rate and purity class, and prepare a quote.
